Quick take
- Wi-Fi 6 business access points: about ₹4,000 to ₹9,000 each for entry business models.
- 24-port PoE+ managed switch: about ₹9,000 to ₹40,000, depending on brand.
- Firewall with 1-year security licence: about ₹35,000 to ₹75,000 for 5 to 75 users.
- Leased line in Delhi NCR: about ₹14,000 to ₹22,000 a month for 30 to 50 Mbps, before GST.
- Cabling is quoted per point. It is the part you keep longest, so don't cut corners there.
What you are paying for
An office network has five main parts. Here is what each one does and what it typically costs in India in 2026, before GST.
| Component | What it does | Typical price (before GST) |
|---|---|---|
| Structured cabling (Cat6) | Cable from each desk, access point, and printer back to the rack | Cable ₹9,000 – ₹15,000 per 305 m box. Installed price is quoted per point. |
| PoE+ managed switch (24-port) | Connects devices and powers access points, IP phones, and cameras | ₹9,000 – ₹15,000 (TP-Link Omada class) up to about ₹40,000 (Ubiquiti UniFi) |
| Wi-Fi 6 access points | Office wireless coverage and capacity | ₹4,000 – ₹9,000 each for entry business models |
| Firewall + security licence | Internet security, VPN, guest separation, web filtering | ₹35,000 – ₹75,000 with a 1-year licence for 5 to 75 users |
| Internet leased line | Dedicated, symmetric internet with an SLA | ₹14,000 – ₹22,000 a month for 30 to 50 Mbps in Delhi NCR |
Also budget for a network rack, patch panels, patch cords, a UPS for the rack, and installation labour. These are usually itemised separately in quotes.
Cabling: the part you keep the longest
Switches and access points get replaced every few years. Cabling stays in the walls and ceiling for a decade or more. Each network point usually includes the cable run, a jack and faceplate at the desk, a port on the patch panel, patch cords, labelling, and testing.
Labour is the largest and most variable part of a cabling quote. That is why ceiling access, concealed versus surface wiring, and after-hours work change quotes more than the cable brand does.
Under the cabling standard, a permanent link is limited to 90 metres, which in practice limits how far a desk can be from the rack. Large floors may need more than one rack location.
- Ask for a per-point price, and ask exactly what it includes (jack, faceplate, conduit or casing, patch panel port, testing).
- Ask whether "one point" means one cable run or a double outlet.
- Ask for a test report and labelled points at handover.
Firewall sizing and price
Size the firewall for your user count and real internet speed, not for the biggest model. Security licences renew every year after the first, so compare the 3-year total. Fortinet bands from an Indian partner's 2026 guide are below. Sophos, SonicWall, and others sell comparable small-office models.
| Model | Suggested users | With 1-year licence | With 3-year licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| FortiGate 40F | 5 – 25 | ₹35,000 – ₹50,000 | ₹65,000 – ₹85,000 |
| FortiGate 60F | 25 – 75 | ₹55,000 – ₹75,000 | ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,30,000 |
| FortiGate 80F | 75 – 150 | ₹95,000 – ₹1,30,000 | ₹1,80,000 – ₹2,30,000 |
A 3-year bundle usually costs less per year than buying the hardware with 1 year and renewing twice.
Internet: leased line prices in Delhi NCR
A leased line gives you dedicated, equal upload and download speed with a service guarantee. Business broadband is cheaper but shared, so it makes a good backup link rather than the main one for a busy office.
| Bandwidth | Monthly price in Delhi NCR (before 18% GST) |
|---|---|
| 10 Mbps | From ₹6,500 |
| 30 – 50 Mbps | ₹14,000 – ₹22,000 |
| 100 Mbps | ₹27,000 – ₹37,000 |
| 200 Mbps | From ₹42,000 |
| Two 100 Mbps lines (primary + backup) | ₹55,000 – ₹70,000 combined |
If fibre has to be extended to your building, expect a one-time charge of ₹15,000 to ₹50,000. It is often waived on 24-month contracts. In Noida, Tata and Airtel are well established in the main sectors, and Jio is often cheapest in newer developments. Always get quotes for your exact address.
Worked example: a 30-person office
A single-floor office with 30 desks, two meeting rooms, and two printers. Four access points and one 24-port PoE+ switch is typical at this size. Hardware prices below use the ranges above, before GST.
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| 4 × Wi-Fi 6 access points | ₹16,000 – ₹36,000 |
| 1 × 24-port PoE+ managed switch | ₹9,000 – ₹40,000 |
| Firewall for 25 – 75 users with 1-year licence (FortiGate 60F class) | ₹55,000 – ₹75,000 |
| Hardware subtotal | ₹80,000 – ₹1,51,000 |
| Cabling, about 36 points (30 desks, 4 access points, 2 printers) | Quoted per point |
| Rack, patch panel, UPS, installation | Quoted separately |
| 50 Mbps leased line | ₹14,000 – ₹22,000 per month |
Add 18% GST to hardware and services. Registered businesses can normally claim it as input tax credit. From year two, budget for firewall licence renewal unless you bought a 3-year bundle.
Questions to ask every vendor
- How many access points are planned, and where? Is that based on a site survey or a guess?
- Is the firewall sized for our users and internet speed for the next 2 to 3 years?
- What do the security licences cost to renew each year?
- Will staff, guest, and CCTV traffic be on separate networks?
- Will every cable point be tested and labelled, with a report?
- Will we receive a network diagram, IP plan, and all admin passwords at handover?
- What support is included after installation, and for how long?
Where to save, and where not to
- Save: don't oversize the firewall. Match it to real users and bandwidth.
- Save: take 24 or 36-month leased line terms if you plan to stay. Installation is often waived.
- Save: buy multi-year security bundles instead of renewing every year.
- Don't save: on cabling quality and testing. Re-cabling a finished office is expensive and disruptive.
- Don't save: on a backup internet link if downtime stops billing, calls, or support.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to set up a network for a small office in India?
For a 20 to 30 person office, network hardware (access points, a PoE switch, and a firewall) typically costs about ₹80,000 to ₹1,50,000 before cabling, installation, and GST. Internet is extra, about ₹14,000 to ₹22,000 a month for a 30 to 50 Mbps leased line in Delhi NCR.
Is GST charged on networking equipment and installation?
Yes. Expect 18% GST on networking hardware, installation, and leased line rental. Registered businesses can normally claim it back as input tax credit, so compare quotes on pre-GST prices.
Do I need a leased line, or is business broadband enough?
Broadband can work for very small teams. Once your team depends on video calls, cloud apps, or customer calls, a leased line gives you dedicated, symmetric speed with a service guarantee. Many offices use a leased line as primary and broadband from a different provider as backup.
How long does an office network installation take?
Cabling and equipment for a small office usually take days to a couple of weeks, depending on interiors. The leased line is often the slowest part: about 2 to 4 weeks where fibre is already live, and 6 to 12 weeks if fibre has to be extended.
Can we reuse the existing cabling in a new office?
Sometimes. If it is Cat6 (or good Cat5e), properly terminated, and passes testing, it can be reused. Untested or unlabelled cabling often causes more trouble than it saves, so test it before deciding.
